Oh, Kendall and Zac... How do I even write how much I adored shooting you two. Your love is so beautiful and inspiring. We had another session planned for that day anyways, and Kendall texted me and told me that she and Zac had gotten married! I freaked out in excitement and began thinking of how we were going to turn the beginning of our session into bride and groom shots! Kendall's cute white dress was perfect for the simple, summery, boho look we were going for. Both barefoot, they looked perfect. Pretty proud of $5 bouquet I managed to find. It really added the perfect pop of color and "bride-ness" to the pictures. I had an absolute blast shooting you two. You're simply gorgeous people that photograph so well. I'm so excited I got to capture this important moment in your lives together. I can't wait for more photographing adventures ahead. Much love to you both! Thank you for having me shoot pictures on your first day as man and wife!

I'm pretty sure I don't have enough good things to say about McKenzie... Well for one she's my cousin, (and that makes her pretty awesome, right? :) ) and she wanted me to shoot her senior pictures when we were at the lake for our family reunion. I was thrilled! The lake is tucked full with beautiful places to shoot. We scouted locations on Tuesday morning, but we decided to go out to the closest town- still a good 30 minutes away- to search for old buildings and neat places. We went to Ft. Donaldson, and found the gorgeous field and other backdrops. On our way back, we took a wrong turn, got pretty lost, but found the most gorgeous scene- wildflowers and trees and wild nature area. We were finally ready to head back as the sun was sinking, and right before we were home we stopped at a spot we had picked out earlier that day, wooden steps built into a hillside covered with purple wildflowers. It was perfect. And that was just day 1. So we were thrilled with our shooting and our location finds, but McKenzie had more outfits to go through, and I had more places I wanted to shoot! So the best part about vacation is staying 30 feet from one another and shooting again the next night! McKenzie was amazing at every pose I gave her! She could totally be a model. I had SO much fun shooting these and editing them too! Thank you so much for letting me shoot your senior pictures, McKenzie! Have a great senior year. :)
BOP Natasha was referred to me through our mutual friend, and we emailed back and forth to plan her family shoot! She and her husband Matt invited me to her family's gorgeous farm. Plush fields, rustic barns, a creek, the whole nine yards of country chic. I had a great time working with this sweet family! Their sweet son Tristan was decked out his country vintage outfit. So adorable! The outfits and locations were perfect. The best part was the last ten minutes of the shoot. Tristan decided he was pretty happy with this whole deal and just laughed and smiled! We had a great time! Here's the gorgeousness! Thank you so much, Natasha and Matt, for having me shoot your family pictures!
BOP Once upon a time, a Godly maiden with gorgeous green eyes and a beautiful heart and soul fell for all the wrong guys. Until one day she met a handsome lad who was caring, passionate, and a devout follower of Christ. Oh yeah, and he played guitar. The two fell in love, and their love drove them both closer to God and to each other. One blissful (and cold) February day the lad got down on one knee, pulled out the bling, and asked the maiden to be his lovely wife. And the rest is history. And now you're caught up. Seriously, Devin and Daniel are like a fairy tale with their happily every after coming soon. They're completely perfect for each other. I cannot wait for their January wedding. It'll be so filled with love. And now onto their gorgeousness. I had so much fun shooting Devin and Daniel. They're so much fun to be around and so easy going. Such a great shoot! Thanks so much, Devin and Daniel, for having me shoot your engagement pictures. You two are the best, and I can't wait to shoot your wedding!
BOP Hellllloooo, my summer loving friends! The pool, the golden sessions, the smell of sunscreen... all of my favorite things ever are in full swing, and I'm soaking it up.
I've been making some business decisions and trying to come up with more ways to grow and reach more clients. I think I've come up with something that's going to benefit you and your wallet as well as me and my time! In the past, I've offered mini sessions just for themed sessions for one to two days. NOW what I want to offer is MINI SESSIONS available to you at any time! What a mini sessions will include: -a 20 minute session -1 outfit -15 digital files sent to you -the perfect sampling of BOP (hey, that stands for Briana Owen Photography) All for the price of $75! We're talking quick shooting- perfect for the littles that get tired quickly (ok, let's be real. We're really talking about the dads here.) This is great if you're a new client to BOP! You're able to try it out and find out how much you love your images before you book a full session! (Trust me, you'll want to book a whole session next time.) Now don't forget that full sessions offer more time, more outfits, and most importantly more images! Full sessions give you the full experience- the whole shabang of awesomeness. But I know that summer is spent going on vacation or buying that new pool, so these mini sessions will be PERFECT for the budget savvy. I'm so excited to get to meet and work with new (and returning) clients! Can't wait to hear from you! Email me at [email protected] Thanks and Happy Summer! The morning was rainy, cold, and just gross. But by the time I was on my way to meet Allie Kate, it wasn't raining and wasn't as cold! No sunshine that day, but I'll take what I can get. I had no idea what all Allie Kate's mom had in store, but when we arrived at our location, she had props strewn everywhere. It was *perfect.* She showed my the bike with the movable extra seat (my favorite prop ever!) and the flowers and the volleyball and soccer ball and even a milkshake. Seriously, she went to town, which made the whole shoot so fun! Allie Kate's dress was *amazing.* Completely unique and perfectly vintage chic. Sterling looked handsome in his coral vest and bowtie to match Allie Kate's heels. They were quite the perfect pair! We had so much fun and shared so many laughs. Despite sinking heels and freshly rained-on grass, the shoot went down fabulously well! I had an absolute blast getting to know Sterling, Allie Kate, and her mom. Thank you for asking me to shoot your prom shots, guys! I hope we can work together again soon. :) Feel free to share this post on Facebook and Twitter! And if you're feeling crazy, pin a couple of your favorite pictures onto Pinterest!
Wow, I can't believe that almost a whole school year has passed since I first started Amber's senior pictures! From the first picture we took together, we've been a perfect team of model and photographer. Amber is such a gorgeous girl, and it's been so fantastic working with her. Although we're finished shooting for now, I'm hoping we'll have lots of shoots together down the road. Amber will be headed to Lipscomb University in the fall, and I know she has a great future ahead. So here's the last of Amber's senior pictures!
There just aren't enough words to describe how much I adore this shoot. To start off, this February day was more like a late spring day with gorgeous sunlight and a warm breeze. Morgan and Drew, my best friend of 13 years and her sweet boyfriend, were an absolute thrill to shoot. Morgan and Drew become so relaxed in front of the camera when they are together so posing was always easy. They were themselves, and they were so beautiful photographed together.
Now let's talk about how amazing their outfits were. Hello, perfect vintage goodness! It was absolutely perfect! Morgan can rock some red lipstick, and Drew's suspenders were spot on. I keep saying it, but oh my word! Everything could not have been more perfect! Ok. Duh, duh, duh, DUUUUUUUUUUUUHHHHH. (Cue trumpet entrance noises.) It's that daunting and crazy time of the school year when we begin to register for classes for next year. Even though we have a whole semester to go, I suppose it's never too early to be forced to choose the classes in which you'll spend roughly 135 hours- per class. Now maybe those who clearly know that they want to take Dual Enrollment Calculus vs. AP Calculus vs. skipping Calculus and enjoying some Advanced Algebra with Trig aren't having such an internal debate over this, but I am. Now, I assume not every photographer out there is selecting their senior (um. SENIOR? Really?! So much emotion goes into that one word right there) courses, but inevitably most are looking at their goals for 2013. Personally, there are so many things I want to accomplish. If we're speaking specifically what shoots I want then I want to photograph a few maternity and newborn sessions, some more incredible seniors, and then really shoot as many engagements and weddings as possible. I have booked 1 wedding, but it's not for about a year and a half. I'd really like to be able to shoot several this year to just get better and better.
Side note! I realized I've talked a lot about how I've wanted to shoot a wedding, but I've never really stepped out and shown what I have to offer. It's time I show the everyone why choosing Briana Owen Photography is a fabulous choice. This is the team. I'm Briana and my 2nd shooter is Carly (but she's just as talented, if not more so, than I am so to call her a 2nd isn't even really fair. I've been shooting in general for 2 years. I know my camera and I know how to manipulate it to make the best photos possible. Because I shoot a lot of portraits, I can freeze that perfect moment on your big day. Carly is a fabulously creative photographer and knows the ins and outs of all kinds of wedding days. But together we put the left and right sides of the brain into sync. We're passionate about love stories, but we're even more passionate about *your* love story. We love the details about everything that makes your love unique. It's about you and your love and everything else will fall beautifully into place when you hire us to shoot your wedding. Ok, back to what I was talking about. Now those are just the things I want to shoot, but I also really want to find who I am as a photographer- what my voice is, what my style is, who my desired client is. I want to be able to market my services with a strong sense of who *I* am personally. Yeah, it's great that I can take good photos, but it's about so much more than that. It's about the experience with me and relationship and connections a client makes with me. That takes it from just good pictures to just a whole new level. As I really search for voice, I'd love any input from you. I'm really trying to decide what words could describe my style and what words could describe me and the experience behind the photos that I offer. So challenge for you: What 3 words describe my style? An example could be fun, warm, romantic. But what's my style specifically? I'm on this mission to become a voice behind the photos. Thank you as always for believing in me and keeping me positive. You guys truly rock. And if you want to rock even more by sharing this with your friends (especially your engaged friends!) and told them about me when they tell you about how they need to find a wedding photographer. :) I'd love you and maybe even send you one of those BFF necklaces in the mail. Wasn't I just writing my 2011 review post? Wow. This year has flown, and I have been blessed with more sessions than I really could have ever imagined. My photography BOOMED this fall- to the point where I had to book clients a couple of months in advance. I began to break away from the "girl with a good camera who takes good pictures AND is CHEAP" and started to slowly turn towards a photographer whose work was actually being desired. I was sent more inquires than I can even remember. I'm still in awe of all that God has given me.
A TON of stuff happened this year! I shot my first wedding, attended a workshop (learned a ton and made some great friends that I keep in touch with regularly!), made a best photografriend, changed from Pictures by Bri Photography to Briana Owen Photography, really decided my specialty was seniors and couples, upgraded my camera, created my own brand and logo, started settling into my style, found my love of back lit images.. The people I've met and the friends I've made have made this whole journey even more amazing. Alright, so I'm going to post one photo from each shoot i did this year. I love watching my own growth, and I hope you will too. Progress, progress, progress! (Oh, and excuse the "Pictures by Bri" logo on the first half. Remember, I changed that this summer!) 1.
