It's that daunting and crazy time of the school year when we begin to register for classes for next year. Even though we have a whole semester to go, I suppose it's never too early to be forced to choose the classes in which you'll spend roughly 135 hours- per class. Now maybe those who clearly know that they want to take Dual Enrollment Calculus vs. AP Calculus vs. skipping Calculus and enjoying some Advanced Algebra with Trig aren't having such an internal debate over this, but I am. Now, I assume not every photographer out there is selecting their senior (um. SENIOR? Really?! So much emotion goes into that one word right there) courses, but inevitably most are looking at their goals for 2013. Personally, there are so many things I want to accomplish. If we're speaking specifically what shoots I want then I want to photograph a few maternity and newborn sessions, some more incredible seniors, and then really shoot as many engagements and weddings as possible. I have booked 1 wedding, but it's not for about a year and a half. I'd really like to be able to shoot several this year to just get better and better.
Side note! I realized I've talked a lot about how I've wanted to shoot a wedding, but I've never really stepped out and shown what I have to offer. It's time I show the everyone why choosing Briana Owen Photography is a fabulous choice. This is the team. I'm Briana and my 2nd shooter is Carly (but she's just as talented, if not more so, than I am so to call her a 2nd isn't even really fair. I've been shooting in general for 2 years. I know my camera and I know how to manipulate it to make the best photos possible. Because I shoot a lot of portraits, I can freeze that perfect moment on your big day. Carly is a fabulously creative photographer and knows the ins and outs of all kinds of wedding days. But together we put the left and right sides of the brain into sync. We're passionate about love stories, but we're even more passionate about *your* love story. We love the details about everything that makes your love unique. It's about you and your love and everything else will fall beautifully into place when you hire us to shoot your wedding. Ok, back to what I was talking about. Now those are just the things I want to shoot, but I also really want to find who I am as a photographer- what my voice is, what my style is, who my desired client is. I want to be able to market my services with a strong sense of who *I* am personally. Yeah, it's great that I can take good photos, but it's about so much more than that. It's about the experience with me and relationship and connections a client makes with me. That takes it from just good pictures to just a whole new level. As I really search for voice, I'd love any input from you. I'm really trying to decide what words could describe my style and what words could describe me and the experience behind the photos that I offer. So challenge for you: What 3 words describe my style? An example could be fun, warm, romantic. But what's my style specifically? I'm on this mission to become a voice behind the photos. Thank you as always for believing in me and keeping me positive. You guys truly rock. And if you want to rock even more by sharing this with your friends (especially your engaged friends!) and told them about me when they tell you about how they need to find a wedding photographer. :) I'd love you and maybe even send you one of those BFF necklaces in the mail.

Wasn't I just writing my 2011 review post? Wow. This year has flown, and I have been blessed with more sessions than I really could have ever imagined. My photography BOOMED this fall- to the point where I had to book clients a couple of months in advance. I began to break away from the "girl with a good camera who takes good pictures AND is CHEAP" and started to slowly turn towards a photographer whose work was actually being desired. I was sent more inquires than I can even remember. I'm still in awe of all that God has given me.
A TON of stuff happened this year! I shot my first wedding, attended a workshop (learned a ton and made some great friends that I keep in touch with regularly!), made a best photografriend, changed from Pictures by Bri Photography to Briana Owen Photography, really decided my specialty was seniors and couples, upgraded my camera, created my own brand and logo, started settling into my style, found my love of back lit images.. The people I've met and the friends I've made have made this whole journey even more amazing. Alright, so I'm going to post one photo from each shoot i did this year. I love watching my own growth, and I hope you will too. Progress, progress, progress! (Oh, and excuse the "Pictures by Bri" logo on the first half. Remember, I changed that this summer!) 1.
